DALLAS (AP)
Jason Kidd is no longer the coach of the Dallas Mavericks after five seasons, a decision described as mutual, which comes shortly after the hiring of Masai Ujiri as team president. Kidd, a Hall of Famer who led the Mavericks to their only championship in 2011, had two playoff runs with Luka Doncic, including a trip to the NBA Finals in 2024. Following Doncic’s trade to the Lakers, the team missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. Kidd was expected to develop 2025’s No. 1 pick, Cooper Flagg, but that responsibility will now fall to a new coach.
