Former All-Star and ERA champion Lee “Buzz” Capra passed away at age 78, as confirmed by Illinois State University. A Chicago native, Capra helped his college team win a Division II national championship in 1969 before being drafted by the Mets. He rose to prominence with the Braves in 1974, achieving a 2.28 ERA and earning an All-Star selection, but injuries curtailed his career. Following his playing days, he worked as a minor league pitching coach into the 1990s.
