Legendary sports announcer John Sterling, known for his over 35-year tenure with the New York Yankees, has passed away at 87. He began his career in 1970 and was also the voice of the Atlanta Hawks and the Braves, where he famously called the Rick Camp home run during a historic 19-inning game in 1985. Sterling won 12 Sports Emmy Awards and was a two-time finalist for the Ford C. Frick Award. His last full season with the Yankees was in 2024.
