Max Scherzer, the 41-year-old right-hander for the Toronto Blue Jays, has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to right forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation. He struggled in his last start on April 24, allowing seven earned runs without recording a strikeout, leaving him one shy of 3,500 career strikeouts. The Blue Jays also face a depleted rotation with multiple pitchers on the injured list, while Chase Lee has been recalled to fill Scherzer’s spot. Rookie Trey Yesavage is set to make his season debut against the Boston Red Sox on April 28.
