The Los Angeles Rams surprised many by selecting quarterback Ty Simpson 13th overall in the 2026 draft, but Simpson was aware of their interest due to secret meetings with coach Sean McVay. He described these discussions as extensive and focused solely on football, highlighting McVay’s passion for the game. While some expected the Rams to pursue a skill player or defender, the choice of Simpson hints at a future successor to Matthew Stafford. Despite initial speculation about McVay’s excitement, both he and general manager Les Snead have since expressed support for the decision.
