Last week, The Wall Street Journal revealed that the Seidler family is close to selling the Padres to José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones for a record $3.9 billion valuation. However, Feliciano and Jones will acquire only a 30-40% stake, investing between $1.17 billion and $1.56 billion, while retaining minority investors, including some Seidler family members. Feliciano will become the control person despite owning less than 50% of the team. The sale is pending formal approval from other ownership groups, with the next owners meeting set for June.
