LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was diagnosed with a cyst on his spine during NFL Combine tests, which was causing persistent oblique pain that affected his 2025 season. The cyst was pressing on a nerve, but he has been asymptomatic since before the Senior Bowl and through the draft process. Doctors indicated there is no short- or long-term risk, although he may require a minimally invasive procedure that could sideline him for two to three weeks if symptoms return. Nussmeier completed 64% of his passes for 7,699 yards and 52 touchdowns over his five-year college career.
