New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov is making progress in his recovery, having played two rehab games in Bridgeport, where he achieved a 2-0-0 record and saved 46 of 49 shots. These games marked his return after undergoing knee procedures in late 2024. Islanders GM Mathieu Darche considers Varlamov a realistic backup option for Ilya Sorokin in the upcoming season. If he maintains his performance, Varlamov’s goal of returning to the NHL could be realized.
