Cade Winquest has returned to the St. Louis Cardinals after being designated for assignment by the New York Yankees, who selected him in the Rule 5 Draft last December. Despite the Yankees’ initial interest, Winquest did not make any appearances for the team, as they struggled to integrate long-term development into their competitive roster. He has now been assigned to the Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate to continue his pursuit of a major league debut. Hopefully, he will get the opportunity to play soon in St. Louis.
