Observations from Mets spring training on Wednesday
Long man
David Peterson, the longest-tenured Met, had a strong spring debut with three scoreless innings and four strikeouts in a 5-2 win over Israel’s WBC team. Nick Burdi struggled, allowing a run in his only inning, bringing his spring total to three runs in three innings. Bo Bichette impressed with a diving stop to initiate a double play, focusing on comfort at third base. The Mets will face the Nationals in West Palm Beach, with Justin Hagenman starting.
