In the Montagnes de Lans ski area, elite Alpine skiers with cognitive disabilities, including world champions Mélanie De Bona and Antoine Maure, are training but remain barred from competing in the Milan Cortina Paralympic Games due to their conditions. Excluded since the 2000 Sydney scandal, French officials are advocating for their inclusion in the 2030 Games, arguing that the necessary infrastructure and regulations are already in place. They believe that including these athletes would promote visibility, recognition, and inspire young people with disabilities. The International Paralympic Committee will consider including them only if proposed by an international federation.
