The New York Mets will start newly acquired ace Freddy Peralta on opening day against Pittsburgh after trading two prospects to Milwaukee for him. Manager Carlos Mendoza expressed excitement about Peralta leading the rotation, following his impressive 17-6 record and 2.70 ERA last season. The Mets have also signed infielder Bo Bichette and traded for center fielder Luis Robert Jr. Peralta, who is set to earn $8 million this season, has a career record of 70-42 with a 3.59 ERA over eight seasons.
