Austin Slater Signs with Tigers
Veteran outfielder Austin Slater, who finished last season with the Yankees, has signed a minor league deal with the Tigers worth $2 million, plus $500,000 in incentives. Acquired by the Yankees last season, Slater struggled with injuries and finished with a .216 batting average. The Yankees pursued a reunion but opted for Paul Goldschmidt instead. Slater, with a career .248 average, now has the chance to earn more than the Yankees’ offer.
