Alex Hoppe’s Potential in Seattle
Acquired by the Mariners from the Red Sox, pitcher Alex Hoppe is a 2022 6th round draft pick with a solid relief history but lacks standout credentials. His unconventional high arm angle and relatively high strikeout rates create intrigue, despite control issues and mediocre pitch designs. The Mariners’ successful track record in developing pitchers suggests they see potential in Hoppe, aiming to refine his skills for a high-leverage role. This acquisition reflects Seattle’s reputation for transforming overlooked talent into impactful bullpen arms.
