Bennett Stirtz scored 20 points, including two crucial free throws with 4.6 seconds left, leading Iowa to a narrow 73-72 victory over USC. The Hawkeyes, who had a 17-point lead in the second half, saw USC rally and briefly take the lead before Stirtz’s free throws secured the win. Tavion Banks also contributed 20 points for Iowa, while USC’s Kam Woods dominated with 33 points. Iowa will next face Oregon, and USC is set to host Rutgers.
