Fresh off a World Series title, Shohei Ohtani will compete for another championship this summer as part of Japan’s national team in the World Baseball Classic, alongside Dodgers teammate and World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Manager Hirokazu Ibata announced Ohtani’s inclusion but remains uncertain if he will pitch, depending on his spring training performance. Japan’s roster features eight major league players and will begin camp on February 14, preparing for their first game against Taiwan on March 6. Japan has historically performed well in the tournament, winning three of the last five WBCs.
