The Ottawa Senators have recalled netminder Hunter Shepard from the AHL’s Belleville Senators, while reassessing Leevi Merilainen after a disappointing season. Merilainen, who had a promising 2024-25 with an 8-3-1 record, has struggled this year with an 8-10-1 record and the worst Goals Saved Above Expected among goalies. To strengthen their goaltending, the Senators have also brought in veteran James Reimer. Shepard returns for his sixth stint this season after a brief appearance with Ottawa earlier in the year.
