Team Canada will be without star first baseman Freddie Freeman for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, as he has withdrawn for personal reasons. Freeman, a three-time Silver Slugger and 2020 NL MVP, holds dual citizenship and previously played for Canada in 2017 and 2023. With his absence, the lineup will likely rely on Josh Naylor and Tyler O’Neill. Canada, which has never advanced past the first round, is in Pool A with Puerto Rico, Cuba, Panama, and Colombia, starting March 5.
