Oxford United has sacked head coach Gary Rowett as the team finds itself in the Championship relegation zone, having won only one of their last ten matches. Rowett, who took charge a year ago, led the club to safety last season but was dismissed after a disappointing start to the current campaign. His assistant, Mark Sale, has also left, with Craig Short stepping in as interim coach. Chairman Grant Ferguson thanked Rowett for his leadership during a challenging period.
