Former Rays closer Pete Fairbanks remains a sought-after free agent, with the Diamondbacks, Marlins, and White Sox expressing interest. The Marlins may offer a one-year deal in the “mid-teens” range, capitalizing on Fairbanks’ connection to their president, Peter Bendix. Although the Rays declined an $11MM option, Fairbanks could secure a multi-year deal or a one-year contract exceeding that amount. The Cubs are also considering him as they seek a high-leverage reliever following recent bullpen changes.
