Just hours after trading Matt Strahm, the Phillies acquired left-handed reliever Kyle Backhus from the Diamondbacks for Minor League outfielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu. Backhus, 27, had a 4.62 ERA in 2025, showcasing an unorthodox throwing style and impressive extension, though he lacks power with an average sinker of 91 mph. Owusu-Asiedu, 22, was a ninth-round pick in 2023 and had a strong season with a .752 OPS and 33 stolen bases. This trade enhances the Phillies’ bullpen depth as they prepare for Spring Training.
