The Mariners have acquired right-hander Alex Hoppe from the Red Sox in exchange for minor league catcher Luke Heyman, with Hoppe being added to the 40-man roster to avoid the Rule 5 draft. In a corresponding move, left-hander Tayler Saucedo has been designated for assignment, as initially reported by Chris Cotillo and Tim Healey.
