Athletics general manager David Forst, who has been with the organization since 2000, is in discussions with owner John Fisher regarding a contract extension as his current deal expires at season’s end. Under Forst’s leadership since the 2022-23 offseason, the A’s have focused on low-cost acquisitions, yet he has successfully built a promising young core, despite some past missteps, and the team is showing improvement with a 40-31 record since July 1.
