New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso set a franchise record by hitting his 253rd career home run, surpassing Darryl Strawberry’s 37-year mark, during a game against the Atlanta Braves. Alonso’s milestone included a two-run homer and a solo shot, marking his 25th multi-homer game, as the Mets celebrated his achievement with a special tribute and fanfare at Citi Field.
