The Buss family has agreed to sell a majority ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers to Mark Walter for $10 billion, while Jeanie Buss will remain as the team’s Governor. Walter, who previously acquired the right of first refusal when he bought a stake from Phil Anschutz in 2021, is also the primary owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Lakers, purchased in 1979 for $67.5 million by Dr. Jerry Buss, recently extended Rob Pelinka’s contract and hired JJ Redick as head coach, with several Buss family members involved in team operations.
