Former Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesper Fast has announced his retirement at age 33 after 11 NHL seasons and 703 games, having spent seven seasons with the New York Rangers and four with the Hurricanes. Fast, drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Draft, faced injury challenges throughout his career, including a broken neck in the 2023-24 season that ultimately led to his retirement; however, he had a standout playoff performance in 2023, scoring nine points and two overtime winners. Despite his early retirement, Fast is expected to remain involved in hockey, possibly in a coaching or development role.
