In a World Series rematch, Max Fried struggled in his worst start of the season, and the Yankees bullpen faltered, leading to an 8-5 loss to the Dodgers. Both reigning MVPs, Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, homered in the first inning, marking the first time in MLB history both MVPs homered in the same game’s first inning. Despite the Yankees hitting four homers, including from Paul Goldschmidt and Trent Grisham, they could not hold the lead as Fried allowed six runs and the bullpen gave up additional runs, with Freddie Freeman named Game MVP for his pivotal contributions.
