The Detroit Tigers have designated pitcher Kenta Maeda for assignment, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi. The 37-year-old Maeda has struggled in 2025, recording a 7.88 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over eight innings, following a disappointing 2024 season where he allowed 22 home runs and posted a 6.09 ERA. In his time with the Tigers, Maeda has been worth minus-0.1 fWAR and is in the final year of a two-year, $24 million contract, having previously played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins.
