The Seattle Seahawks traded quarterback Sam Howell to the Minnesota Vikings, who will use him as a backup to J.J. McCarthy. In the deal, the teams swapped fifth-round picks, with Seattle receiving pick No. 172 and selecting defensive end Rylie Mills. Howell, 24, is in the final year of his rookie contract, having played only two games last year as QB2 behind Geno Smith; the Seahawks recently signed Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million deal and drafted Jalen Milroe in the third round.
