The San Francisco Giants announced the selection of infielder David Villar to their active roster following a series of roster moves. Casey Schmitt was placed on the injured list due to a left oblique strain, which opened a spot for Villar. To create a position on the 40-man roster, the Giants transferred slugger Jerar Encarnacion to the 60-day injured list.
