Hideki Matsuyama had an eventful ninth hole at the Sony Open in Hawaii when he lost grip of his driver, sending it towards spectators but luckily hitting a rope before reaching them. Despite the wayward tee shot, Matsuyama managed to salvage a birdie on the par 5 hole with a chip and a putt, leading to a strong back nine and finishing the day with a 3-under 67, tied for 26th place in the field.
