Major League Baseball’s offseason is expected to slow down as the holiday season approaches. Right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes is the top free agent remaining, with the Giants and Blue Jays showing interest in signing him. Burnes has had a successful career, finishing in the top 10 of Cy Young Award voting for the past five seasons. Both teams have already made significant moves in recent weeks. San Francisco signed Willy Adames to a blockbuster free-agent contract, while Toronto acquired infielder Andrés Giménez in a trade with the Guardians. The Red Sox and Orioles are also interested in adding Burnes, who spent last season with the Orioles. The Yankees are in talks with first basemen Christian Walker, Pete Alonso, Carlos Santana, and Paul Goldschmidt. The Mets have signed outfielder/first baseman Jared Young to a one-year deal.
