Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed that an automated ball-strike system (ABS), or “robot umps,” will be tested during the upcoming spring training. The long-term goal is to have the ABS system in place before the 2026 MLB season, pending an agreement with the umpires’ union.
