The contract is fully guaranteed, with Brooks earning nearly $20 million this season and $22 million in the first year of the extension. Initially acquired in the Kevin Durant trade for his defensive skills, Brooks emerged as a leader in the locker room. He joins other players like Collin Gillespie and Mark Williams in signing extensions with the Suns.
