Greg Hawthorne, the Steelers’ first-round pick in 1979, has died at the age of 69. A member of the Super Bowl XIV-winning team, he played five seasons in Pittsburgh, followed by three with the Patriots and concluded his career in Indianapolis in 1987. Over his eight-year NFL career, he accumulated 527 rushing yards, 1,112 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns. Notably, he recovered a fumble in the 1985 AFC Championship, contributing to the Patriots’ upset victory over the Dolphins.
