The Denver Nuggets have waived center Jonas Valanciunas, who had only $2 million of his $10 million salary guaranteed for the upcoming season, as they aim to save money for extending Peyton Watson. Valanciunas, a 14-season NBA veteran, averaged 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds last season as Nikola Jokic’s backup and will now receive $2 million for the 2026-27 season. The Nuggets have signed Marvin Bagley III to take over the backup role. Valanciunas may consider playing in Europe, with interest from Lithuanian club Zalgiris Kaunas.
