The Mets have signed infielder Christopher Morel to a minor league deal, following his release from the Marlins; he will report to Triple-A Syracuse. Morel, 27, has over four years of MLB experience but has struggled since his initial success, posting a .201/.283/.351 line in 989 plate appearances since 2024. His contract includes three opt-out dates, with the first on July 15. If he can improve his hitting, he may remain controllable for two more years via arbitration.
