Earlier today, it was questioned whether the assault allegation against Jets quarterback Geno Smith was an active case. ESPN’s Rich Cimini clarified that a police spokesperson confirmed it is “not an active case,” but it is still under review before a report can be released. The Jets have chosen not to comment on the matter. Additionally, the closed status of the case does not prevent the NFL from conducting an investigation under its Personal Conduct Policy.
