The Toronto Blue Jays activated catcher Alejandro Kirk from the 60-day injured list while placing outfielder Daulton Varsho on the 10-day IL due to wrist inflammation. They recalled Davis Schneider from Triple-A and designated Tyler Heineman for assignment, as rookie Brandon Valenzuela excelled in Kirk’s absence with a .790 OPS. Varsho, who hasn’t started since July 5, is batting .256 this season, while Schneider has struggled at Triple-A with a .188 average. Kirk, a former All-Star, last played on April 3 due to a fractured thumb.
