Four former Alabama State basketball players—Amarr Knox, Shawn Fulcher, Corey Hines, and Tony Madlock—have been ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA for accepting payments to manipulate a game outcome, specifically during a December 2024 match against Southern Miss. They collectively received $2,000 from two bettors, leading to Alabama State’s 81-64 loss. The NCAA was alerted by Temple in 2025 after Hines was contacted by the FBI regarding this sports integrity issue. The bettors were indicted for wire fraud and bribery, while Knox reported that Fulcher had involved teammates in the scheme.
