The Chicago Bears’ board of directors has approved plans for a stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, marking the first vote on any stadium site. Bears chairman George H. McCaskey and CEO Kevin Warren believe the project will enhance regional connectivity between Northwest Indiana and Chicago. While Indiana is currently in the lead for the Bears’ relocation with a proposed domed stadium, there remains a possibility for Illinois to re-enter the competition. The team has been based in Chicago since 1921 and has played at Soldier Field since 1971.
