New Cleveland Browns defensive end Jared Verse, acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Myles Garrett, wore No. 8 during his first practice with the team, although that number is currently held by quarterback Dillon Gabriel. NFL offseason rules allow duplicate numbers, but Verse and Gabriel will need to resolve this later. Meanwhile, Gabriel is competing for a backup role behind Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, with rookie Taylen Green also in the mix. Head coach Todd Monken noted that both Watson and Sanders have performed well, making the quarterback situation competitive.
