Derek Lalonde, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ assistant coach, is set to interview for the head coaching position following the departure of previous coach Berube. Lalonde, who joined the Leafs last summer, oversaw a successful penalty kill but faced challenges with team defense. His prior experience includes winning two Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning and serving as head coach for the Detroit Red Wings. With a new management team in place, the search for a head coach will be extensive, potentially affecting the current coaching staff.
