Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is expected to part ways with the 49ers, as the team seeks compensation through trade rather than releasing him. According to Jason La Canfora, no team is willing to pay Aiyuk the $27 million owed in 2026, and while he might be cut eventually, the 49ers intend to wait to maximize trade opportunities, especially if injuries occur to rival teams’ receivers. Aiyuk, 28, was drafted 25th overall in 2020 and signed a four-year, $120 million extension last year. In 2024, he recorded 23 receptions for 351 yards in seven games.
