After drafting quarterback Drew Allar, the Steelers released quarterback/receiver John Rhys Plumlee, who has since signed with the Houston Gamblers in the UFL. The Gamblers, struggling with quarterback injuries and a recent loss to the Columbus Aviators, have listed Plumlee solely as a quarterback. Plumlee, who played college football at Ole Miss and UCF, entered the NFL in 2024 as an undrafted free agent and has previously been with the Steelers, Jaguars, and Seahawks, though he has yet to appear in a regular-season game.
