The Diamondbacks have released reliever Shawn Dubin from his minor league deal while re-signing first baseman Luken Baker to a new minor league contract. Dubin, who had a brief stint with Triple-A Reno, struggled early in the season and has now been moved to seek opportunities elsewhere. Baker returns to Reno after a short MLB call-up, where he batted .242 in nine games. Despite injuries to key players, Ildemaro Vargas and rookie Jose Fernandez have provided strong production at first base, contributing to the team’s success.
