A frightening incident occurred at Camden Yards when Baltimore Orioles manager Craig Albernaz was hit in the face by a line-drive foul ball during the fifth inning, requiring medical attention before he returned to manage the game. The ball, struck by second baseman Jeremiah Jackson off Diamondbacks pitcher Ryne Nelson, traveled at 70.6 mph and left Albernaz with a noticeable bruise. Despite this, he celebrated Jackson’s impressive performance, which included a grand slam and another home run, leading to a 9-7 victory. Bench coach Donnie Ecker later reported that Albernaz was doing well but would undergo scans for precautionary reasons.
