Major League Baseball has seen an increase in its Black player population, rising to 6.5% on opening-day rosters and injured lists, up from 5.7% in 2024. Despite this growth, six teams currently have no Black players, and 11 teams feature one or fewer. The Minnesota Twins and Cincinnati Reds lead with a combined 17.7% of Black players, while efforts to develop more Black players, particularly pitchers and catchers, continue. Internationally, 26.1% of MLB players are from outside the U.S., with notable representation from Japan and the Dominican Republic.
