JUPITER, Fla. — Sean Manaea pitched four no-hit innings in a 5-5 tie against the Marlins on March 17, 2026, but his four-seam fastball velocity was concerning, clocking in at 86-88 mph, down 3 mph from last year. Despite this, Manaea expressed confidence in his ability to get batters out and mentioned his cutter could help compensate for the velocity drop. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza noted that while he was pleased with Manaea’s performance, a velocity increase would be beneficial as the season approaches. Other roster updates included the reassignment of MJ Melendez to Triple-A Syracuse after limited playing time in the World Baseball Classic.
