Veteran reliever Tommy Kahnle has signed a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox, moving from the New York Yankees’ roster to their biggest rival. Kahnle, 36, pitched last season for the Tigers, posting a 4.43 ERA and saving nine games. He previously had success with the Yankees, highlighted by a career-best 2.11 ERA in 2024 and a strong playoff performance until a poor outing in the World Series. Known for his changeup, Kahnle also represented Team Israel in the recent World Baseball Classic.
